What is a standard?

• Standards are technical, voluntary documents that:
• Contain technical specifications for products or services in various fields;
• Are prepared upon the proposal of interested parties, whether or not participating in the DPS Technical Committees;
• Are based on the results of contemporary technology development;
• Are approved by consensus by the DPS Technical Committees and ratified by the DPS;
• Are made available to anyone.

Standards establish Standards!

• They promote change, facilitate the achievement of quality, provide assurance, unify test methods and procedures, and generally facilitate communication by defining what a “standard” is for products and services;
• Standards are prepared by those who implement them in practice and who know exactly what they are for;
• Standards contribute significantly to the country's economic growth.
