- The Steering Board of the General Directorate of Standardization is one of the governing bodies of this institution, whose mission is to ensure transparency and impartiality among interested parties in the standardization decision-making process and to maintain the equality of each party in this process.
- The Steering Board consists of 11 members, who are representatives of interested parties in the standardization process, namely business, government, consumer, academia. This representation is such that the interests of the parties are balanced, where the right to propose, to be informed and to decide is balanced between the parties.
- The Steering Board of the DPS meets twice a year. The meetings are convened and chaired by the Chairman. The General Director and the Directors of the Departments of the DPS participate in the meetings of the Steering Board without the right to vote. Currently, the Board is headed by a business representative, elected by the members of this Board.
The representation of the Board according to the VKM 433, dated 05.05.2010 “On the establishment, composition, functioning and competences of the Steering Board of the General Directorate of Standardization”, as amended, is as follows:
2 representatives from the ministry responsible for Economy and Innovation;
1 representative from the ministry responsible for Infrastructure and Energy;
1 representative from the ministry responsible for Agriculture and Rural Development;
1 representative from Universities;
1 representative from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tirana;
1 representative from the Konfindustria Association;
1 representative from the General Directorate of Accreditation;
1 representative from the General Directorate of Metrology;
1 representative from the Consumer Protection Association;
1 representative from the Regional Development Agency, Tirana.
The current Chairman of the Board of Directors is Mr. Edmond Sheshi, Administrator of NETRDA - Tirana.
