This standard sets out general requirements and recommendations for tour operators who provide guides to visitors regarding:
- the characteristics of the cultural, historical or natural value of a tourist destination; or
- How a service, activity or product is provided today and how it has been provided in the past (e.g. industrial tourism).
The standard applies to tourist visits and related services, facilities, equipment and activities that may affect the quality and safety of visitors.
