Road safety - Series of standards for safety and electronic function of vehicles

Nowadays, when transportation vehicle technology is advancing at a rapid speed, it is important that new electronic vehicles are safe. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has published a series of international standards for the safety and operation of electric and electronic transport vehicle systems, which serves to provide security to the automotive manufacturing industry.

Cars manufactured with new technologies are very advanced compared to the old cars of a century ago, which were internal combustion engines and manual window panes. Nowadays everything in the vehicle is done at the touch of a button or through a simple command. Technology continues to advance and electronics offer a whole range of modernized functions for vehicles.

With the advancement of technology comes a number of risks. The purpose of the ISO 26262 series of standards is to mitigate these risks, providing guidance and requirements for the safety and operation of electrical and electronic systems in vehicles.

ISO 26262 standard, published with 12 different parts, Road Vehicles - Safety and Operation, new advanced technology in vehicle design and production.

The ISO 26262 series of standards is a useful tool for the automotive industry, which serves to deliver vehicle safety and generally serves to allow flexibility for innovation and development of this technology.

Functional safety features form an integral part of the vehicle's product development phase, from design and design to implementation, integration, verification, evaluation and ultimately extraction from production. ISO 26262 defines the safety and operation of all electronic and electrical safety related systems of vehicles, covering their entire cycle, including development, production, maintenance, service and outage.

ISO 26262, parts 1-12, are approved by the ISO/TC 22 technical committee, road vehicles, whose secretariat is held by the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee, ISO's japan member.
