DPS has published the SSH EN ISO 11979-5:2020 standard “Ophthalmic implants - Intraocular lenses - Part 5: Biocompatibility”

The standard specifies specific requirements for the assessment of the biocompatibility of materials for intraocular lenses (IOLs), including the processing conditions for their manufacture. These requirements include the assessment of physicochemical properties that are important for biocompatibility. It also provides guidance on the performance of an ocular implantation test.
