Scope

This European Telecommunication Standard (ETS) is applicable to 625-line PAL systems B, G, H, I, D and K. It specifies an enhanced transmission system which allows PAL broadcasters to offer wide-screen pictures in the 16:9 aspect ratio format, maintaining compatibility with existing PAL receivers.
