On April 15 and 16, 2026, the General Directorate of Standardization (GDS) participated in the Workshop “Building an Expertise in the Standardization Process” under the support of GIZ.
This meeting was attended by representatives from the Homologous Institutions of the countries of the Region such as Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, also an important participation was of representatives from the Norwegian Institute of Standardization and Mr. Erik Marchand, project manager at CEN&CENELEC (European Standardization Organizations).
The focus of this meeting was the establishment of a training module to strengthen institutional capacities through staff training according to the needs of each institution and active participation in international programs. Also, priority topics were addressed at this meeting such as: The standardization process as a main pillar in the Quality Infrastructure, the identification and engagement of all stakeholders in this process, the digitalization of standards and their impact on quality infrastructure systems and the promotion of standards.
The participation of the General Directorate of Standardization in this meeting was important as it was a very good opportunity to exchange experiences with regional and international partners in order to improve the quality and sustainability of training programs to increase the capacities of the DPS staff.
This activity served as a platform for determining priorities and the importance of structured trainings on various topics mainly with a focus on the field of standardization in accordance with the needs of the General Directorate of Standardization, at the same time it was also a bridge for strengthening institutional cooperation between homologous institutions in the region.
