DPS has published the standard SSH EN ISO 12312-1:2022 "Eye and face protection - Sunglasses and related eyewear (protection) accessories such as optical glasses, contact lenses, etc. - Part 1: Sunglasses for general use"

The standard applies to all sunglasses, of all planes and sunglasses with a lens or corrective plane for general use, intended for protection from solar radiation. This standard does not apply to a) accessories and fashion objects, which are worn on the eyes for protection from radiation from artificial sources of illumination, such as those used in sunrooms, b) ski goggles or other types of glasses, related to eye protection, used in sports activities, c) sunglasses, which are prescribed (advised) by a medical professional for relief from solar radiation, d) products intended for direct observation of the sun, such as the view of a solar eclipse.
